Empowering Lives through Emerald Mining
EKS Mine aspires to be a leader in safe emerald mining company and incorporate production of finished emerald products through cutting and polishing.
The core value of EKS Mine with regards to CRS is ensuring we give back to the community where resources are mined. This is done by taking part in developmental projects and lending a helping hand to the less privileged in the community.
2+ Years of experiance
Family History
In 2012, Mr. Edward Shamutete (Former Chairman and CEO of ZCCM) acquired 3 greenfield emerald mining concessions in Lufwanyama in Ndola Rural, Copperbelt Province. The first concession, plot 257A, is 23.6 hectares and is located in the Sandawana area. Plot 257A is surrounded by producing mines, Grizzly (Chantete) mine on the west and Marlex (ABB) on the east. Plot 257A shares the same TMS vein as the Grizzly and Kagem (Fibolele) mines to the west. The second mining concession plot 5/2A is 28 hectares, located in the Kamakanga area of Lufwanyama, and borders Kagem mine on the east. The third mining concession plot 40A/B is 149.5 hectares and borders Kagem mine to the south.
The Shamutete family has owned the 3 concessions for 12 years now. The family believes in the value these concessions hold, which is, of course, backed up by various studies conducted in the past years.

The geological signatures and location of license areas give confidence in finding emeralds. In 2021, project 257a produced some sample emeralds valued at almost $10,000.
